Bulls flier Semi Tadulala has his eyes on chasing down Super League’s top try-scorers.

The prolific winger bagged another brace as Bradford finally arrested their slump with a 36-22 victory over Hull on Sunday. That double took Tadulala’s tally so far to 17, equalling his personal best while at Wakefield in 2006 and keeping him in touch with Leeds’ Scott Donald (22) and St Helens’ Ade Gardner (21).

Now the former Melbourne Storm flier intends on racking up plenty more as his side – who are back in the top six – look to turn around their season.

“It was one of my goals at the start of the year to be one of Super League’s top try scorers,” Tadulala said.

“I got injured early on but I still believed I could achieve it and I do now too.

“There’s still nine games to go and if given the opportunities I’m sure I can.

“I never even knew I’d gone level with my previous best and I’d love to get past 20.”

The 30-year-old – still yet to be offered a new deal – scooped the man-of-the-match award for his efforts on Sunday, when Bradford picked up a first win in five games.

It wasn’t just his finishing prowess that caught the eye. Tadulala made countless strong carries and also came up with some big defensive plays – but he still wasn’t happy.

“I’m really critical of my own game,” said the Fijian.

“It’s really pleasing to be scoring so many tries but I’m just finishing off the good work of everyone else.

“Most of these tries have been real winger’s scores and being in the right place at the right time but I’ve a lot to work on, stuff spectators might not pick up on, like getting quicker play-the-balls, hitting more holes and keeping my concentration.”

Tadulala concedes it was a “big relief” to get that much-needed win and added: “It’s now set up for us to have a good run to the play-offs.”

Next up for the Bulls are Hull KR at Grattan Stadium on Sunday, when Tadulala should have faced his former Wakefield team- mate Peter Fox.

However, the Rovers winger – playing part-time with York just two years ago – is a surprise inclusion in Tony Smith’s England squad against France.

“He deserves it,” said the Bradford ace.

“Peter’s a very enthusiastic and very good player who has a lot to offer.”
