Keighley boxer Ibrahim Nadim is looking to add the Commonwealth Super Featherweight Championship to his Central Area championship next month.
He won the latter when he defeated Adam Rasool in Manchester last November and he will now face Pontefract’s Kurt Jackson for the vacant Commonwealth title.
Jackson is a former Commonwealth Youth Lightweight champion who is coming off the back of two wins against Martin Crossan.
The bout will take place on Saturday, July 12 at Wakefield Trinity’s DIY Kitchens Stadium, as part of the "Trilogy at Trinity" show by Steve Wood VIP promotions.
Nadim versus Jackson is chief support to the Dom Hunt and James Moorcroft trilogy bout, both of their previous fights ending in a draw.
Steeton-born Nadim said: "I am grateful to Steve Wood for giving me the opportunity to fight as chief support to Dom and James and also to the Commonwealth Boxing Council for giving me the opportunity to fight for their Super Feather weight silver title.
“These are the kind of fights that I have been working towards.
“Kurt is my toughest opponent to date and he will be looking to take the belt home with him but it's my job to make sure that it goes back with me to Keighley.”
Nadim’s manager Paul Speak said: “It's been tough finding opponents for Ibby,
“He should have fought for the vacant English Title against Josh Holmes, but Josh vacated rather than face him.
“We also offered to fight Abdul Khan for the Commonwealth silver but he declined the offer.
“We are grateful to Steve Wood for believing in Ibby and giving him this opportunity.
“It's a tough fight for Ibby and fair play to Kurt for accepting it, but I'm convinced that Ibby will rise to the occasion and this fight will bring out the best in him.”
