FARSLEY Celtic’s crisis season hit a new low on Saturday.
Not only did they crash to a pathetic 6-1 defeat against rock-bottom Needham Market on Saturday, but they have seen ex-City player and former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn resign as manager after less than three weeks in charge.
The T&A received several messages from supporters this morning, telling us that neither Redfearn nor assistant Pav Singh were at the game over the weekend, the team instead led by women’s manager Izzy Roads and youth coach Phil Lake.
The club's match report online confirms that Roads and Lake led the side, but simply mentions that Redfearn and Singh were absent, without giving any further details.
We got in touch with Redfearn to confirm whether he had left the club, and he told us he had actually resigned on Thursday.
He only took charge of the club on Friday, January 17, meaning this was one of the shortest managerial stints on record.
Redfearn said that he “wishes all the Farsley supporters good luck going forward” and “thanks the players for their best efforts”.
Farsley, who are due to start work on their pitch this week, having spent the last few months playing ‘home’ games 70 miles away in Buxton, are now two points off safety in National League North.
