MUHAMMAD Haseeb Khan produced one of the bowling performances of the season in the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League to help haul Bingley Congs III out of a demotion place in Division Three.

He took 9-19 in 9.4 overs at Sandy Lane as his team trounced Sutton II by 183 runs.

The visitors won the toss and chose to field - a decision that backfired on them as Congs made 261-7, buoyed by a big opening partnership between Andrew Copping (85 off 82 balls) and Sam Higgins, whose 64 came off only 34 balls and contained eight fours and four sixes.

Sutton, who showed the excellent developing pathway at the club by playing seven juniors, were then dismissed for 78, an innings which included five ducks.

That win put Congs six points ahead of Wilsden II, who are in the second relegation place, in a four-way battle for survival, with the latter at basement boys Keighley III on Saturday.

Wilsden II were at Silsden II last weekend, and Dan Bosworth took 3-37 as the hosts made 161-7 after being sent in.

Captain Nigel Butterfield then scored 28 and Mudassar Riaz 20, but few followed their example as they were dismissed for 105.

Bradford & Bingley III remain fourth after a 43-run defeat at Cowling II, who are one of three clubs chasing promotion.

Cowling made 192-7 after winning the toss, Reyan Hassan Ali batting through for 92 not out, but Bingley started well through 12-year-old Hugo Nolson (57) and keeper Alec Tudge (30), only to fall away to  140 all out.

Wilsden’s first XI won again, making it four straight victories, but they remain in serious danger of going down from Division One as Bradley, who are immediately above them, defeated Cowling to be 24 points ahead with two matches left.

Already-relegated Haworth won the toss at Shay Gate, but were back in the pavilion for 74 as Owen Pacey took 3-19, Sam Mitchell 3-11 and Chris Longley 3-18.

Juniors Mohammed Taha Ishtiaq (23no) and Bryn Pacey (40no) then took hosts Wilsden to a 10-wicket win in 16 overs.

Hepworth & Idle stay third after an underwhelming display at home to defending champions Riddlesden, who are now second.

The visitors made 201 after opting to have first knock, Alex Robinson taking 3-35 and Tom Hawksworth 3-34.

The Westfield Laners were then castled for 79, with only four players reaching double figures.

Eldwick & Gilstead remain fourth after a five-wicket home defeat to Glusburn, captain Arnie Raistrick (30) and keeper Mark Roach (23no) to only two to trouble the scorers greatly in E&G’s 160 at Grange Road.

Glusburn won in the 32nd over after Raistrick took 3-70.

Haworth Road Meths were also beaten at home, Gargrave’s three-wicket victory giving them the title.

Opener Naseeb Ali (40) and keeper Fahim Khan (59) scored the bulk of Meths’ 153 after they won the toss, but Gargrave made a strong start in reply and triumphed after 40 overs, despite Shahid Saleem taking 3-38.

Bowling Baptists and Silsden have been promoted from Division Two, but the destination of the silverware is still in doubt with a fortnight left.

Baptists entertained Airedale in a match that was reduced to 35 overs per side due to the BBC live streaming Campion’s lunchtime FA Cup tie against Blyth Spartans, which finished 1-1 at the same Scotchman Road complex.

Baptists made 147 after winning the toss, opener Mohammad Zulfiqar Khan top-scoring with 66.

Airedale came agonisingly close to victory, finishing on 146-9 as Raees Ishtiaq took 7-32.

Hepworth & Idle II, who have been relegated, were at Sutton, who made 204 after being sent in, Harry Hainsworth, a 14-year-old loanee from Yeadon, taking 3-68 and Muhammad Abdullah 4-41.

The Westfield Laners replied with 154, with Swaraj Thakur weighing in with 39 before they crumbled to Sachin Abraham, who took superb figures of 6-7 from his 11.1 overs.

Bowling Baptists II are in the mix for promotion from Division Four, although they have played a game more than their rivals near the top of the table.

Long Lee II won the toss at Golden View and made 210-6, James Wilkinson dominating with 128 not out.

Baptists made an awful start in reply, losing three wickets cheaply, before Salba Rahman (53) and Haris Ibrahim (82no) featured in a telling stand as they achieved a six-wicket win in less than 30 overs.

The winners are on 215 points, eight behind Bradley but six in front of Skipton CI II with two weekends left.

Hepworth & Idle II were toppled for 76 inside 31 overs at Airedale II, with only two players reaching double figures.

The hosts then won by seven wickets in 15 overs to keep the losers rooted to the bottom.
