BRADFORD (Park Avenue) continued their unbeaten start to pre-season with a solid 3-1 win at Wakefield AFC on Tuesday night.
The game was goalless at the break, but Danny Whitaker’s men raced out of the blocks in the second half to stun their hosts.
Avenue went 1-0 up through a superb free-kick from a trialist after 53 minutes, with former Bantams midfielder Connor Shanks doubling their lead moments later.
It was another fine goal, as he jinked his way through the home defence before sending the keeper the wrong way and slotting the ball into the net.
Joe Crosby opened the scoring in Avenue’s 1-1 draw at home to Eccleshill United on Saturday and he was on the scoresheet again here, scoring his side’s third goal with five minutes to go.
Wakefield grabbed a last-gasp consolation to send the home fans home with something to remember.
Having won 5-2 at Campion in their pre-season opener too, Avenue are looking to make it three from three on the road this Saturday, as they travel to Golcar United.
That friendly is followed up next Tuesday by a home game against a Bradford City XI.
The majority of Graham Alexander’s Bantams first-team squad will be in Austria next week for the club’s pre-season training camp, so it remains to be seen what their line-up will look like at Horsfall.
