Dawid Malan helped the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to back-to-back SAT20 titles on Saturday, the Yorkshire batter part of their landslide final victory over Durban Super Giants at Newlands in Cape Town.
Malan opened the batting and scored six, but Sunrisers went on to amass 204-3 before defending it comfortably, Durban bowled out for 115 in reply – an 89-run win.
The SAT20 has only been going for two seasons, with the ‘Orange Army’ champions twice under Aiden Markram’s captaincy.
Fellow Englishmen Tom Abell and Liam Dawson were also team-mates of Malan, who finished the competition with 210 runs from 10 matches with two half-centuries.
