FORMER Keighley Cougars captain Kyle Kesik still has an integral role to play at the club and has signed a new deal.

Hooker Kesik joined the club ahead of the 2020 season, having previously been at Doncaster.

He was loaned out to the Midlands Hurricanes in May, but has proved a key figure back at Cougar Park under new head coach Matt Foster.

The 34-year-old will now be staying put for the 2024 season, with the option to extend his deal into 2025.

As it stands, Cougars and Kesik do not know which league they will be playing in next season.

A win on the final day of the Betfred Championship season will almost certainly secure their survival.

But, level on points with relegation rivals Whitehaven and Swinton, and the trio all facing games against play-off sides, it may come down to who loses the most heavily to determine who goes down to League 1 alongside Newcastle.
