WEST Bowling survived a scare at home to mid-table Skirlaugh on Saturday, as the National Conference League Division One champions held off a rousing second-half comeback.

Bowling had already wrapped up the title, but are wanting to end the season with momentum, as they look to take on the might of the Premier Division in 2024.

And the Bradford side were in cruise control at the break, leading 24-0.

But Skirlaugh roared back to level the scores in the second half, setting up a thrilling finish.

Down to 12 men by this point, Bowling crossed the line to snatch a 28-24 victory with the last play of the game.

Bradley Wright, Liam Coe, Archie Halmshaw, Max Trueman and Liam Darville scored tries for the hosts, with Coe landing four of his five conversion attempts.

Egremont Rangers are heading up with West Bowling, after edging out promotion rivals Heworth at the weekend.

Drighlington crushed Eastmoor Rangers 34-10 in Division Three, and will secure a play-off place if they beat bottom side Seaton Rangers in their final game this Saturday.

In the Yorkshire Men’s League Premier Division, Brighouse Rangers gifted Fryston Warriors a walkover win.

In Division One, Keighley Albion beat Sharlston Rovers 24-18, and are now just a point off the summit.

Wibsey Warriors and Bradford Dudley Hill continue their battle to come top of Division Two ahead of the end of year play-offs.

Both have had walkover wins over, while Dudley Hill played on Saturday and thumped Illingworth 50-12.

Mid-table Wyke impressed with a 40-2 win over Methley Warriors in Division Three.
