ELDWICK & Gilstead notched a win at the weekend that could be vital to their survival hopes in Division One of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

They opted to field at Grange Road and restricted Haworth Road Meths to 111, with Mansha Khan (31) easily the best of five players in double figures.

The wickets were shared between Ajeet Singh (3-19), captain Arnie Raistrick (3-1), Matthew Rogers (2-18) and Jordan Bayliss (2-40).

E&G lost opener Mark Roach early, but Singh (38) and Matthew Sharp (25) helped them to a seven-wicket win in the 35th over.

Meths dropped down to eighth, 10 points above a demotion berth, while Wilsden climbed above them to seventh on the back of an eight-wicket win over Sutton.

The latter were sent in but could only make 110, with Sam Mitchell taking 6-40.

Wilsden soon had Pete Longley back in the pavilion, but Chris Longley (23no) and Sikander Mahmood (56 off 45 balls) added 80 for the second wicket to virtually see the hosts home.

Hepworth & Idle remain fourth after a fine three-wicket victory over Gargrave at Westfield Lane, narrowing the gap between them to 13 points.

Gargrave recovered from 84-8 to reach 156, after brothers Jonathan (4-18 off 12 overs) and Alex Robinson (5-53) had caused damage.

However, despite being 36-4 themselves, Hepworth & Idle had the men for the job in opener Jamie Topham (41), Jay Bhangoo (30), Martin McCulley (39no) and Harry Pinkney (29no), with the latter duo adding 60 unbroken to take them over the line in the 40th over.

Bradford & Bingley III have virtually reached the point of no return in Division Two, trailing second-from-bottom Long Lee by 50 points with three matches left.

Bingley chose to bat at Airedale Oval and made 114, which was largely down to the experienced Adam Swallow (46) and Eshaan Lodhi (33), who added 69 for the seventh wicket.

Airedale, one of three teams in the mix for promotion, had an opening stand of 49, but collapsed to 87-7 to change bowlers James Crossley (3-14) and Shahbaz Ahmed (4-25), before an unbroken stand of 33 took them to victory in the 34th over.

Hepworth & Idle II’s batting let them down at Skipton CI, who made 190, with Swaraj Thakur (4-38) and Muhammad Abdullah (3-60) in the wickets.

The Westfield Laners were then routed for 47, despite having had a first-wicket partnership of 25.

Keighley III could only manage that same total against Division Three leaders Bowling Baptist at Scotchman Road, who, sent in, had made 186, with Mohammed Zahid (40) and captain Raees Ishtiaq (76) scoring the bulk of those runs.

Only three Keighley batters made double figures as they fell to Muneeb Rashid (4-8), Shazaid Yousaf (3-17) and Ishtiaq Raza (2-10).

Baptist are 17 points in front of second-placed Cononley (234), while Bingley Congs III are fifth on 174 after an easy victory over Skipton CI at Sandy Lane.

CI opted to bat but didn’t make much headway against any of the seven bowlers they faced and were dismissed for 79, with only three players reaching double figures.

Andrew Greenwood bagged 3-9, Ali Asghar 2-17 and Tahir Arshad 2-0 and, although both Congs openers made ducks, Waj Mahmood (16no) and Shahad Mahmood (47no) took them to victory by eight wickets inside 20 overs.

Wilsden II struggled for runs at Cononley, finishing with the curious score of 93-4 off their 45 overs, Mudassar Riaz making 55 not out.

Cononley then won by nine wickets by the end of the 29th over.

Bowling Baptist II are still in the hunt for the second promotion berth from Division Four, despite losing by three wickets at home to Glusburn II.

Baptist made 139-6 from their 40 overs after choosing to bat, with opener Nadeem Khaliq scoring 57 and putting on 67 for the second wicket with Hamid Mehmood (25).

Then wickets fell regularly and Glusburn II passed their target at the end of the 36th over.

Baptist are on 165 points, 11 behind Silsden and 34 adrift of leaders Cononley.

Hepworth & Idle III won only their third match of the season, in a low-scoring affair at Denholme II.

The Westfield Laners, given first knock, could only score 80, despite skipper Daniel Moore (22) and David Dunne Snr (22) adding 44 for the second wicket.

Hepworth & Idle were able to rely on change bowlers Zach Holland (4-16) and Dunne (4-22) though, as they dismissed Denholme for 69.
