ELDWICK & Gilstead have hauled themselves out of a relegation berth in Division One of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.

Their victory at Denholme means that they have leap-frogged both Denholme and Wilsden into fourth from bottom with four matches to play.

However, on 124 points, they are only seven points above both.

Denholme chose to bat, but could only make 107, with Matthew Sharp taking 5-19 and Jordan Bayliss 3-30.

The outstanding Sharp then scored 63 not out, hitting four fours and two sixes, as E&G won by five wickets in the 37th over.

Denholme only picked up three bonus points, but the five that Wilsden earned at Cowling helped them draw level with Denholme.

Cowling scored 198, Sam Mitchell taking 3-28, but Wilsden could only reply with 49, Sikander Mahmood top-scoring with 13 as they were back in the pavilion in 18 overs.

Hepworth & Idle were the latest victims of prospective champions Riddlesden at Grange Road.

Buoyed by a whirlwind 63 not out off18 balls by Mohammed Zulfiqar, Riddlesden scored 200-7 off a rain-truncated 35 overs, Jonathan Robinson doing well to take 2-21.

The Westfield Laners were then restricted to 132-6, Jonny Thompson scoring 54 and Jamie Topham 28.

Haworth Road Meths won by four wickets at home to Haworth, the visitors winning the toss but only making 122 as Mansha Khan returned superb figures of 12-4-13-4, backed up by Mohammed Sajjad (3-33).

Meths were in bother at 29-3 but were helped home by keeper Fahim Khan (46) and Goher Ayoub (26).

In Division Two, there were defeats for Hepworth & Idle II and Bradford & Bingley III.

Visitors Ingrow scored 224 after being sent in at Westfield Lane, despite Muhammad Abdullah taking 6-35.

The second string replied with 145, with leading scorers being Swaraj Thakur (25) and Dave Dunne (24).

Bingley were sent in by Silsden at Sandy Lane and scored 100 in a collapse from 75-2, James Crossley leading the way with 33 as the top four all made double figures.

Shahzayb Shaukat dismissed Silsden skipper Jack Roberts for one, but that was the only success for Bingley as the visitors won by nine wickets in the 13th over.

Despite a shock defeat at fellow newcomers Menston Crompark, Bowling Baptist still lead Division Three by 14 points with four matches left.

Sent in, Baptist were toppled for 76 in the 36th over, opener Mohammed Zahid scoring 37, with Usman Ahmed (11) and Nadeem Khaliq (12) the only other players in double figures.

Crompark, 24-3 at one stage, did not find things easy either, with Ishtiaq Raza taking 4-19, but won by three wickets by the end of the 36th over.

Wilsden II’s situation is a lot brighter after they won by five wickets at home to Cowling II.

Chris Foster (4-33) and Sheraz Malik (3-34) were among the wickets as Cowling were dismissed for 122 after being sent in, and the reply was dominated by Zeeshan Ali.

The No 3 scored 77 off 51 balls, including eight fours and five sixes, with the target being reached in the 29th over.

Bowling Baptist and Menston Crompark’s second teams also met in Division Four and the outcome was different, Baptist scoring 138 after winning the toss at Scotchman Road.

Umair Khan (41), Hussain Sajjad (22) and Khalid Mehmood (26) led the way, with only Armaan Mahmood (18) also making double figures.

Only two Crompark players did likewise, however, in their 70 all out, Imran Muzafar’s superb opening spell (7-1-10-4) putting them on the back foot before Zar Ali (2-6) and Khalid Mahmood (2-3) finished them off.

Bowling are on 160 points, just a point behind second-placed Silsden.

Hepworth & Idle thirds notched only their second win of the season to climb a place to third from bottom.

Sent in, they made 100 at bottom-of-the-table Long Lee II, which was a comedown after openers Glen (22) and Daniel Moore (51) had put on 70, with Dan hitting six fours and a six.

No-one else made double figures but it didn’t matter as Long Lee were dismissed for 65 by Daniel Moore (6-11) and Ellis Moore (2-21).
