ON a dramatic night in the FA Cup extra preliminary round, Campion bowed out of the competition at the death against Wythenshawe on Tuesday evening, while Albion Sports have been handed a bye after being left to wait for the result of an ‘FA investigation’ into opponents Chadderton.

A nasty injury to one of Campion’s star men early on, Aidan Day, left the Bradford side on the back foot, and their hosts took the lead after half-an-hour.
Campion were all over Wythenshawe after the break, and hit back with 10 minutes to go through Aidan Kirby.

But the home side hit back late on, and scored the winner against the run of play.
Albion had earned a replay after drawing 2-2 at Horsfall in their initial encounter with Chadderton on Sunday, and were due for to visit Chadderton last night.

But their hosts, according to the Northern Counties East League website, were subject to an ‘FA investigation’, meaning the tie had to be postponed.

The result of the investigation has handed Albion a bye through to the next round.

In the NCEL Premier Division, late goals from Tom Greaves and George Green sealed a 2-0 win for Thackley at home to Pickering Town, though Green was sent off in the dying seconds for two bookable offences.

That was Thackley’s second win of the campaign, while Silsden enjoyed their first, edging out Rossington Main 1-0.

Casey Stewart netted the only goal of the game, and Silsden survived the whole of the second half with 10 men after Dom Craig was sent off.

Over in the North West Counties Football League First Division North, new boys Route One Rovers suffered a crazy 4-3 defeat at home to Ilkley Town.

Goals from Anees Younis, Callan Parker-Wells and Zakariyah Khan put the Bradford outfit 3-1 up just before the hour mark, which is how the score remained until five minutes before the end.

But Ilkley roared back with a quickfire treble, including two injury-time strikes, to snatch victory.

Steeton also scored three goals in the same division, but their match ran a little more smoothly, as a Josh Coe double added to an earlier Jake Townsend strike in a 3-0 win at Holker Old Boys.
