BRADFORD (Park Avenue) continue to bolster their ranks, confirming two new signings ahead of the start of their Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign next month.

Relegated from National League North at the end of last season, Avenue have managed to retain a key group of players, with the likes of Luca Havern, Mitch Lund, Jamie Spencer and Brad Dockerty all putting pen to paper on new deals.

But Mark Bower has openly admitted his desire to bring fresh faces in, and two new boys officially joined over the weekend.

Just before Saturday’s win over Chorley, Avenue confirmed that 20-year-old midfielder Harry Colville has come in on a one-year deal.

He is the brother of former Bantams midfielder Luca Colville, who played 14 times for City during the 2018/19 season.

The older Colville is now at Scarborough Athletic in National League North, while the younger one joins Avenue after a spell plying university/college football in America.

Assistant manager Danny Boshell said: “We’re delighted Harry has agreed to join us. Harry has impressed us over the last few weeks in training and the pre season games he’s been involved in.”

“Harry can play off either flank and in the centre of the park so his versatility will be good for us. He’s still a young boy with plenty to learn so hopefully we can give him that platform to help him progress.”

This deal is subject to the relevant clearances.

Avenue have also announced the signing of 21-year-old right-back Will Calligan, who can also play on the wing, on a one-year deal.

Calligan joined Barnsley’s academy in 2014 and signed as a first-year scholar in July 2018.

Comfortable in possession and a tenacious tackler, he has the ability to link defence to attack and has also shown composure in front of goal, highlighted when he scored his penalty in Avenue’s shootout win over City last Wednesday.

Calligan was rewarded for his fine performances at Barnsley with a couple of appearances for the Under-23s at the end of the 2018/19 Professional Development League campaign.

He kickstarted his first full season at U23s level by scoring on the opening day of the 2020/21 campaign in a 2-1 defeat at champions Nottingham Forest.

After his contract expired with Barnsley, Calligan joined North West Counties Football League First Division South Side Stockport Town in the 2021/22 season, with him now making the step up to play for Avenue.

Bower said: “Will has shown he has some really good attributes and we’re excited to work with him to help him to continue his development.

“He has shown a great attitude and desire during games and in training to secure a contract with us.“
