Eldwick & Gilstead and Hepworth & Idle both fell in the semi-finals of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League’s Wynn Cup.

Eldwick & Gilstead’s tie was switched to Cowling as prospects for play were better there, and the twin villages made 152-8, chiefly thanks to Rob Unsworth (39) and Oliver Hall (33).

Kieren Temprell then took 2-23 but they were the only wickets to fall after tea as Cowling won by eight wickets.

Hepworth & Idle were beaten by four wickets at Westfield Lane, despite the best efforts of Alex Robinson and his brother Jonathan.

The latter made 23 at No.8 and Alex scored 24 at No.10 in the Westfield Laners’ 103, and then Alex took 4-22 as Gargrave won in the 24th over, recovering from 55-6.

The previous day, Eldwick & Gilstead had lost a battle in Division One between landlords and tenants at Grange Road.

E&G scored 171, with Ajeet Singh (38), Daniel Kilvington (37), skipper Arnie Raistrick (26) and Mihir Dighe (25) all making contributions.

Matthew Sharp then took 5-92 but they were the only Riddlesden wickets to fall as the latter went 10 points clear of Cowling at the top of the table.

Third-from-bottom Wilsden lost a tight battle at home to Denholme, who moved off the bottom after the two-wicket victory.

Sikander Mahmood made an unbeaten 50 for Wilsden off just 38 balls, including four fours and four sixes, to add to Chris Longley (36) and captain Sam Mitchell (35) in their 183-9 declared.

Denholme replied with 186-8 after 39 overs, with Bryn Pacey taking 4-37. 

Hepworth & Idle were 76-2 at Haworth when play was halted, with Simon Raistrick having made 34 and Nigel Poustie 30 not out, while there was no play at Sutton, where Haworth Road Meths were the visitors.

No match finished in Division Two, including Bradford & Bingley’s trip to Glusburn, while Bowling Baptist handed Cononley their first league defeat of the season in Division Three.

Sent in, Cononley were tumbled for 79, with fourth and fifth bowlers Muneeb Rashid (3-9) and Nadeem Khan (4-13) doing the damage.

Raees Ishtiaq then made an unbeaten 40 as Bowling Baptist won by eight wickets in the 16th over.

There was no play at Sandy Lane, where Bingley Congs III were hosting Menston Crompark.

The only match with play in Division Four was at Silsden II, who were 29-0 against Bowling Baptist II after 10 overs when the elements won.
