BRADFORD Dudley Hill are the Yorkshire Men’s League Trophy champions, winning a thrilling final on Saturday afternoon.

They took on Greetland All Rounders at Featherstone Rovers’ Millennium Stadium, having beaten Moldgreen, Wibsey Warriors and Seacroft Sharks to make it to the showpiece.

And in a hard-fought encounter, it was the Bradford outfit who lifted the trophy, edging out a dogged Greetland side 20-14.

The club dropped out of the National Conference League last year, struggling to raise a team each week and suffering from fines as a result.

But they have rebuilt nicely in the YML and having secured the YML Trophy, could well be on for the double, sitting top of Division Two as it stands.

Immediately after Dudley Hill’s game on Saturday, Keighley Albion took on Newsome Panthers in the YML Cup final at the same venue.

Albion had done well just to reach the final, having jumped up from Division Three to Division One for this season.

And they were outclassed by a strong Newsome side, who sit second in the Premier Division.

The Panthers comfortably won that showpiece 40-4, with Albion’s focus now turning back to their title challenge.

Back to league action at the weekend, and Wibsey Warriors moved up to second in Division Two with a thumping 54-0 win over struggling neighbours Odsal Sedbergh.

But Dudley Hill have maintained a two-point lead at the summit, having been handed a walkover win against Queensbury.

West Bowling were not in NCL Division One action at the weekend, but at six points clear at the summit with six matches to go, they remain on the verge of the title, especially given they have a game in hand on Egremont Rangers and Heworth, in second and third respectively.

Drighlington remain third-bottom of Division Three after being thumped 42-2 at leaders Oldham St Anne’s.
