TWO local footballers have hit the jackpot whilst playing for their country.
Jacob Hazel, Bingley, and Guiseley footballer Jameel Ible are currently away with the St Kitts and Nevis national side at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the pair have made history.
Last week St Kitts and Nevis were victorious after beating French Guinea 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw – resulting in group stage qualification for the first time in the nation’s history.
The team now go onto face Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and the United States in their designated group, with each game closing in on a sellout crowd.
Hazel and Ible will now have the chance to face off with huge stars such as Christian Pulisic (USA), Tyler Adams (USA) and Leon Bailey (Jamaica).
Hazel has been a prominent name on the St Kitts and Nevis’ starting XI team sheet, and he was included from the get-go in that famous victory against French Guinea.
Guiseley’s central defender, Ible, has been an unused substitute in all his team’s fixtures so far.
