David Wiese has arrived at Headingley ahead of his debut in this evening’s Vitality Blast clash with Worcestershire Rapids at New Road (5:30pm), and the overseas all-rounder’s influence will be key to Yorkshire’s hopes of T20 success this summer.

Wiese has come to Yorkshire on the back of an Indian Premier League campaign with the Kolkata Knight Riders, who failed to get beyond the group stage

Unfortunately for him, he only played three games. But for the Vikings, that will mean he is fresh and ready and raring to go against the Rapids.

As well as Wiese, Matthew Fisher has been added to the T20 squad for the first time this season.

But the Vikings will be missing England star Jonny Bairstow, who is unavailable, perhaps with England’s Test match against Ireland next week in mind.

Today’s clash will be the second North Group outing for Yorkshire, who lost by 34 runs to hosts Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston in Saturday’s Blast Off event.

Despite Matt Revis’ 2-25 from four overs, Birmingham posted an imposing total of 200-6, having earlier been floundering on 51-4.

Yorkshire made a torrid start in the reply, and were reduced to 34-5.

Dawid Malan top scored with 43, and some late counter-attacking from Dom Bess (42 not out) and Jafer Chohan (37) at least gave the visitors some respectability, as they ended up 166 all out.
