FARSLEY Celtic are on the hunt for a new manager, with Russ Wilcox leaving the club after keeping them in National League North.

The former Scunthorpe United boss guided his side to safety by a point, with their battle against the drop going down to the final day.

Only two relegation places had been decided heading into the last 90 minutes of the season, Leamington and AFC Telford United, but in the end it was Bradford (Park Avenue) and Kettering Town who joined that pair in falling through the trapdoor.

Conversely, Farsley, Blyth Spartans and Southport all secured their safety on the final day.

Wilcox also kept the Celts up in 2021/22, having joined when they were bottom of the table, and guided the club to the FA Trophy quarter-finals earlier this year.

But the survival specialist has decided to move on, with Farsley confirming that it was an amicable split.

In a club statement, they wrote: “As ever, there will be multiple rumours surrounding the reasons behind Russ’ departure, but the club can confirm that there has been no fallout or disagreements.

“Russ leaves the club with the best wishes of the board and thanks for his efforts and professionalism, and he will always be welcome at The Citadel.

“We wish him every success in the next step of his journey.”

Wilcox also released a statement, via the League Managers Association, which read: "I am immensely proud of the team spirit we built with our semi-professional players and the memories we created for our loyal fans.

"It is time for the next chapter for me. I have loved my time at Farsley and the opportunities it has given me.

"A huge thank you to my assistant Steve Thornber and all the staff who have worked with me on training and matchdays, you have all been a great support.

"And to all those who give their own time to enable the club to operate on a day-to-day basis, what dedication and commitment you show for your football club.

"Finally, thank you to our fabulous squad of players and fans for giving everything to make this season a successful one for the club.

"Up the Celts."
