HEPWORTH & Idle are up to fourth in Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division One after defeating derby rivals Haworth Road Meths.

Sent in, just No.3 Ian Robson (16) and No.5 Mansha Khan (25) troubled the scorers as Meths were toppled for 72, led by opening bowling brothers Jonathan (5-19) and Alex Robinson (2-28).

Mark Harland chipped in with 3-11, and then the Westfield Laners won by four wickets, despite collapsing from 60-3 to 71-6.

Eldwick & Gilstead skipper Arnie Raistrick was left high and dry as his team went down by 16 runs against Cowling at Grange Road.

The visitors made 137, Ajeet Singh taking 4-23 and Matthew Sharp 3-22, and E&G could only score 121 in reply, Raistrick finishing on 24 not out as four of the last five batters scored ducks.

Rob Unsworth had earlier made 21 and Sharp 32.

Wilsden, who are now bottom, were no match for Haworth at West Lane.

Chris Mitchell (31) and Matthew D’arcy-Brain (23) put on 48 for Wilsden’s first wicket after they were sent in, but the team only added another 57 and were beaten by eight wickets.

Bradford & Bingley III, in the lower reaches of Division Two, could make only 58 after being sent in by Division Three champions Thornton-in-Craven, which was an improvement on 26-6, thanks to Brad Davis (26).

Teenager James Crossley then took 4-8 as the visitors won by four wickets.

Hepworth & Idle II, one point and one place higher than Bradford & Bingley, went down by 54 runs at home to Airedale, who made 156-7, despite John Bogue’s 3-30, which prompted as collapse from 92-1 to 102-5.

The Westfield Laners were 51-8 in reply but doubled their total thanks to Swaraj Thakur’s run-a-ball 30 after keeper Malcolm Kershaw had made 22 and No.3 Bogue 15.

Newcomers Bowling Baptist are leading the way in Division Three after a 66-run victory over Gargrave II at Scotchman Road.

Opener Mudassar Hussain led the way for the hosts with 82 off 89 balls, including nine fours and four sixes, as Hussarm Khalid weighed in with 29.

Bowling Baptist then bowled well in tandem, led by Zeeshan Tariq (3-14) to dismiss Gargrave II for 105.

Bingley Congs III were emphatic winners at Wilsden II, with Waj Mahmood retiring after scoring 105 off 116, including nine fours and five sixes.

Opener Andrew Copping (27) and skipper Sam Higgins (46) also played their part in Congs’ 243, and Copping then finished the Wilsden innings off with 3-3 to accompany Shahid Mahmood (3-5) and Murtaza Butt (2-31).

Bowling Baptist II are off the mark in Division Four, defeating eight-man Ingrow II by 128 runs at Hainworth Road.

Ghazanfar Bashir gave the Baptist innings impetus with 78 not out, including 10 fours, after opener Muzaffar Hussain had scored 39, Rehaan Ghazanfar later adding 31 in their 193-5.

Ingrow were then skittled for 65, skipper Liam Gillard making a defiant 33 as Muneeb Rashid took 3-31 and Muhammad Awais 2-2 in five overs.
