Bankfoot marked the return of Bradford Premier League cricket to the famous Park Avenue ground by recording a 23-run win over newly-promoted Jer Lane.

Overseas player Farman Safi impressed on his debut by making 63 as Bankfoot scored 141 before bowling out their hosts for 118.

Safi was the only batsman in this Premier Division encounter to master the conditions, as Mohammed Jamal (3-24) and Cosmond Walters (3-27) provided the main threat when the home side bowled.

Jer Lane’s batting never really fired with Walters (34) their top scorer as they slipped to their second successive defeat.

Bankfoot skipper James Lee took 3-32 to ensure was the pick of the Bankfoot bowlers.

Pudsey Congs registered their first win since returning to the top flight as they overcame Ossett by four wickets in a low-scoring encounter.

The result leaves Ossett at the bottom of the early table with three points – the same total at Pudsey St Lawrence who went down to their second defeat by six wickets against champions Woodlands.

Kieran Collins is proving a more than useful stand in for the absent Muhammad Bilal.

He made 76 not out – his second half century in successive games – as he shared an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 120 with opener Tim Jackson (67no) as Woodlands overhauled the St Lawrence score of 161-9.

Barrie Frankland (53no) and Mark Robertshaw (42) were the best of the St Lawrence batsmen as Woodlands off-spinner Kez Ahmed (5-32) posed problems.

The Oakenshaw-based side have 38 points and sit one behind their title rivals from last season New Farnley, who made 301-4 before defeating Hanging Heaton by 185 runs.

Methley were boosted by the presence of Worcestershire all-rounder Matthew Waite who played a big part in their 148-run win at Farsley.

Townville got off the mark with an 18-run win over Bradford & Bingley. 

Cleckheaton recorded their second win to lead the early Division One table.

They defeated East Bierley with James Stansfield (4-58) and Mohammed Ahmed (3-27) ensuring they defended their score of 151.

Nisar Ahmad top scored with 31 in East Bierley’s 139 after earlier taking 4-34 with the ball.

Waleed Akhtar and Ethan Lee both scored 40 for Cleckheaton.

Undercliffe launched their promotion bid with a crushing eight-wicket win at Carlton.

Zeeshan Qasim (4-58) and Mohammed Ahmed (3-27) skittled out the home side for 107.

Opener Oliver Hardaker was unbeaten on 57 when Undercliffe reached their victory target.

Baildon registered their first win after dismissing Morley for 104 on their way to an eight-wicket win. 

Umar Zahoor took 3-23 while skipper Kevin McDermott made an unbeaten 52 as the Jenny Laners strolled to victory.

Batley chased down a Birstall score of 194-4 to record a four-wicket win, while Yeadon came out on top in the battle of the promoted sides as they defeated Sandal by 82 runs.

Finally, Gomersal defeated East Ardsley by 83 runs in a high-scoring encounter at Oxford Road.

Quadratullah Azizi smashed an unbeaten 120 from just 49 balls as Liversedge’s batsmen went on a run spree in their 143-run win over Crossflatts in Division Two.

Azizi hammered 15 sixes and three fours as he overshadowed the earlier scoring feats of Parvaise Khan who scored 115 from 73 balls with eight sixes and 13 fours.

Heckmondwike & Carlinghow, who were promoted with Liversedge last season, lead the table after defeating Keighley by 116 runs to register their second win.

Keighley spinner Daanyaal Ahmed (4-45) was the pick of the bowlers for Keighley, but their opponents still racked up an imposing 278-8.

Only Johandre Barnard (56) made an impression in the reply, as Keighley were bowled out for 162.

Bowling Old Lane won their Bradford derby with Buttershaw St Paul's by 44 runs.

Tahir Khan (39) and Farhan Hussain (36) helped Old Lane make 204-9 before Buttershaw were dismissed for 160, with Abullah Ijaz taking five wickets.

Henry Dibb (3-61) and Zafar Jahoon (3-61) were the best of the St Paul's bowlers.

Moin Hussain impressed with 5-13 from his 15 overs as he helped Hartshead Moor to a six-wicket win over Northowram Fields.

Usman Maqsood (5-49) and Touseef Haider (4-28) helped Hopton Mills dismiss Hunslet Nelson for 156 as they secured a 48-run win.

Alex Stead hit an unbeaten half century as Lightcliffe opened their account with a three-wicket win at Wrenthorpe.

In Division Three, Windhill & Daisy Hill were skittled for just 78 to lose by 70 runs at Great Preston, while worryingly, Brighouse took a -20 point hit after conceding their game against Adwalton.

Mohammed Shah produced the season’s best bowling figures of 9-29 as Gildersome & Farnley Hill bowled out Wakefield St Michael’s for 63 to set up a comfortable eight-wicket win.

Scholes won a thriller against Altofts by just four runs in what many people consider to be a battle between two of the promotion favourites.

Spen Victoria chased down a Crossbank Methodists score of 190-9 to record a three-wicket win.
