A former stalwart of the Bradford Premier League has died at the age of 82.

Ian Leng played for Idle, Eccleshill, Cleckheaton, Farsley, Pudsey St Lawrence and Yorkshire Bank in a long career.

He was memorably a part of the Cleckheaton side that achieved their first-ever promotion to the Division One of the Bradford League in 1979, taking 39 wickets that season.

Ian’s late brother Denis was also a prolific Bradford League cricketer and his Daughter, Kathryn played for England Ladies.

Ian died on Saturday, April 22 and his funeral will take place on Monday, May 15 from 11:30am at Mahoney and Ward Funeral Service, The Manor Hall, Robin Lane, Pudsey LS28 7BN.

The reception afterwards will be held at Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club.

The Bradford Premier League have passed on their condolences to Ian’s wife Alice, daughter Kathryn, son Jonathan, stepson David and the wider family.
