THE Bradford Premier League's premier knockout competition, the Priestley Cup, gets underway this afternoon.

Several of the Bradford sides in the competition, Jer Lane, Woodlands, Bradford & Bingley and Baildon have byes into the second round.

But three of our sides start their campaign this weekend.

And arguably the tie of the first round sees Pudsey Congs host Cleckheaton this afternoon.

Congs are in the top-flight, with Cleck in the second tier, but the two sides only swapped places at the end of 2022.

Cleckheaton arguably go into the game as slight favourites, with former Yorkshire limited-specialist Richard Pyrah their new skipper.

They have experience at the top-level in their ranks, and while Congs boast some real talent and a great team ethic, they are still a little raw.

Undercliffe have an attacking batting line-up, which could serve them well in their clash at home to East Ardsley, while Bankfoot face a tough ask to win at Farsley, who are considered real contenders for the trophy.

East Bierley are also in first-round action, but their tie at home to Townville will not be played until Monday, May 8.
