QUEENSBURY Golf Club are celebrating their Centenary this year. The 100th Drive-in, held on Sunday 26 March, had special guests the Lord Mayor Martin Love and Lady Mayoress Helen Love as well as Councillor Hazel Johnson and her husband Keith to help the celebrations along.
The day was started with the raising of the Centenary Flag, donated by Trustee Mick Magson who had the honour of raising the flag, followed by the traditional procession led by our wonderful pipers. Then the officials - Mr President Mr Nigel Brunt, Mr Captain Kerwyn Dyer, Madam President Mrs Edith Henderson, Lady Captain Gill Rhodes and Mr Rabbits' Captain Glen Holmes gathered on the 1st tee for a tot of whiskey followed by some fantastic drives down the 1st Fairway.
The Club's Centenary Year is going to be a busy one with events throughout the year. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for information about competitions, events and the Centenary Weekend which includes a Fun Day for the whole Community on June 25 and the very popular Open week which starts on August 5.
The Officials wish all members a great season's golf and welcome any new members who would like to give golf a try - just get in touch.
