WEST Bowling are into the second round of the Challenge Cup, marking their first game in the competition in three years with a 30-12 home win over Waterhead Warriors.

It was a kind draw on paper for the hosts, who were facing a side a division below them in the National Conference League.

But they were made to work hard at Horsfall, with the scores locked at 6-6 going into the break.

There were bizarre scenes as the second half kicked off, with both players not initially realising the referee was not yet back on the field.

NCL Division One outfit Bowling showed their class once the man in the middle returned though, and despite going down to 12 men late on, they went on to record a relatively comfortable victory.

It will be a tough ask for the Bradford side in the second round, as they visit NCL Premier Division heavyweights Lock Lane.

A win in that clash could set up a tie against a Betfred Championship side in round three, like Bradford Bulls or Keighley Cougars.
