SEDBERGH Amateur Boxing Club's Dean Martin Kelbie has won a Yorkshire belt.

It was something of a derby for the fighter, who was taking on Greyson Plews from Wakefield's White Rose Boxing Club for the Yorkshire 54kg junior belt in Selby.

It was a really tough contest between the pair, with both boys giving their all, but in the end, Kelbie's relentless work rate earned him a hard-fought victory.

There is further good news for the club, as they have been nominated for two awards in the Bradford Sports Awards.

They are up for Best Young Club of the Year and Best Amateur Club Performance, the latter nomination coming after they won 13 medals at the Legacy Box Cup out in Norway last autumn.

Sedbergh ABC is open from Monday to Thursday and offers sessions for boxers from six years of age to adult level, as well as girls-only classes.

After the last 12 months, it seems the club are going from strength to strength.
