BRADFORD (Park Avenue) have recalled Eddie Church from his loan spell at Matlock Town.

Young striker Church comes back in time to be available for the National League North game at Spennymoor Town this weekend, as well as the league clash at home to Scarborough Athletic on Monday.

The former Brighouse Town youngster was due to remain at Matlock, who are currently 10th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, until February 6, with his loan extended by Avenue last week.

That new agreement came with a 24-hour re-call option though, which Avenue have now chosen to exercise.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Avenue have announced that they have signed academy defender Mason Brewis on non contract terms.

Brewis becomes the third academy player to make the step up to the first team this season, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Liam Hall and midfielder Myles La Bastide.

Brewis has been playing his football down at Thackley this season, and made the move from reserves to first team at Dennyfield earlier this term.

Discussing the decision to promote Brewis, Avenue's academy technical director Thomas McStravick said: "This is fantastic news.

"Mason has been brilliant this season under the tutelage of (former Thackley manager and Avenue's current scholarship lead coach) Pat McGuire and the staff and thoroughly deserves his chance.

"Knowing Mason, I know he will be aware that the hard work starts now. Well done Mason."
