HORSFALL played host to international rugby league on Tuesday night.

West Bowling ARLFC, who share Horsfall with football club Bradford (Park Avenue) as their home ground are heavily involved with the England Community Lions.

Recently-departed head coach Ryan Hunkin, who has left the amateur side to take over as Bradford Bulls' Head of Youth, assisted on tours abroad with the Lions, and England have not forgotten Bowling's help.

That meant the Lions' Under-17s Regional East team were in action in Bradford last night, taking on a Ligue Occitanie Rugby XIII U17s side from France at Horsfall.

There was plenty of Bradford interest in the Lions team too, with Birkenshaw Bluedogs youngsters Charlie Arnold, Dan Fretwell, Joe Bancroft and Seb Stuart all in the side.

There were also spots for Adam Cash (Odsal Sedbergh), Alfie Peach (Stanningley) and George Bannister (Brighouse Rangers).

Sadly the Lions were beaten by impressive opposition, as their French visitors won the game 26-14.
