ONLY one man has outscored the incredible Erling Haaland this season in England's top five divisions, and it is not that long since he was strutting his stuff at Horsfall.

Manchester City superstar Haaland has notched an astonishing 14 times in eight Premier League games already, and looks set to win the Golden Boot with ease.

But four tiers below, Notts County hotshot Macaulay Langstaff has scored an incredible 15 goals in 11 games for his side this season, propelling them to the summit of the National League.

The 25-year old took a while to crack it in non-league football though, with underwhelming spells at York City, Blyth Spartans and Avenue.

But he found his feet after joining Gateshead in 2020, and hasn't stopped scoring since.

His time at Avenue came in the second half of the 2018/19 season, a campaign which saw Mark Bower's men reach the National League North play-offs.

But Langstaff was outshone by the prolific Jake Beesley, who hit 21 league goals for the Horsfall side that season.

Langstaff, on loan from York at the time, made 10 appearances for Avenue, but only scored twice.

It's safe to say those early-career struggles in front of goal are now well behind him...
