Thackley will be hoping their nearest neighbours and long-term rivals Eccleshill United do them a service this weekend by claiming all three points from their trip to Shirebrook Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
The Eagles, who had their opposition watched at Dennyfield on Tuesday, are on a resurgence after snapping out of the tailspin that has marred the second half of their season.
"We have only lost one in the last five, so it is not a bad little run, and we are looking forward to games again," said United manager Mick Watson.
"Andy Howland is missing from the squad after his injury in our 1-0 win at home to Pickering a week last Tuesday but, apart from that, we have some good competition for places in every department."
