BINGLEY Congs have one hand on the Craven League Division One trophy.

With three matches left, they now lead Oakworth by 32 points.

However, Congs were tested at home by Sutton, who, although in danger of relegation, had won their last three matches.

Congs chose to bat and were given an excellent start by keeper George Hicks (25) and unsung hero Danny Pearson (47), who added 73, but only overseas player Johandre Barnard (18) also reached double figures as the score went from 84-1 to 139 all out.

Sutton, without key batter David Snowden, lost stand-in opener Tony Walton early, but then skipper Sam Solley (32) and Sachin Abraham (38) put on 63.

Two other players reached double figures and Sutton were looking good at 115-3, only to suffer a total collapse, bowled out for 121 to lose by 18 runs.

Pace duo Matty Roberts (4-40) and Harry Greenhalgh (4-21) did the damage.

Haworth Road Meths, as they did last season, seem to be able to pull out a victory just when they need it, and that was the case for the relegation-threatened team at home to Hepworth & Idle.

Sent in, Meths relied on their middle and lower order to total 218-8, with Charlie Hainsworth (43) and Mohammed Sajjad (40) leading the way, aided by Rehan Ahmed (33) and Goher Ayoub (26).

Jonny Thompson (3-33) had the best figures of the five Westfield Lane bowlers used, but then only he made a substantial score in the reply of 118, making 49.

Mohammed Ibrahim was the man who did all the damage, with sensation figures of 6-11.

Wilsden sent in visitors Haworth, who made 209, with Sam (4-69) and Chris Mitchell (3-36) doing best with the ball.

Skipper Sam Mitchell then played a lone hand in the reply of 133 after tea, scoring 70, which included seven fours and six sixes.

In Division Two, Eldwick & Gilstead are right in the mix for promotion behind champions Riddlesden.

Rivals Long Lee batted first but could only total 73 as Matthew Sharp (4-37), captain Arnie Raistrick (3-12) and Ajeet Singh (2-14) laid waste to their batting.

Opener Jacob Roach then scored 36 as E&G won by seven wickets in the 15th over.

The relegation battle between Bradford & Bingley III and Bingley Congs III has been compelling, with the teams often swapping places in front of Airedale.

The duo, who are tenants of Sandy Lane, met at Greenwood Park, and B&B won comfortably by 56 runs.

B&B were 53-5 but, not for the first time this season, their middle order rescued them, namely all-rounder Farhan Khalid (44no), as they posted 173.

Towhid Ali (4-55) and Safraz Mahmood (3-11) did best with the ball for Congs, who were then 66-2 but fell away to 117 all out.

Opener Chris Hemsley batted through the Congs innings for 49.

Shahbaz Ahmed (4-43) and Daanyaal Khan (3-32) got among the wickets to secure that vital win for B&B.

Hepworth & Idle II notched an important home win against Skipton CI II in their quest for promotion from Division Three.

CI opted to bat but could only make 118 as the wickets were shared between five bowlers.

Keeper Malcolm Kershaw (22), Mark Davies (26) and Phil Haigh (29) then ensured there were few jitters for the Westfield Laners, who won by four wickets in the 27th over.

Wilsden did not quite break three figures after batting at Haworth, scoring 98, despite five of the top six, led by Imran Khan (25) and Mudassar Riaz (23), reaching double figures.

Haworth won by nine wickets in the 18th over.

Division Four proved a disappointment on Saturday, with Glusburn II conceding to Hepworth & Idle II and Ingrow II doing likewise to joint-leaders Bingley Congs III.
