HAWORTH Road Meths are just a few points above a relegation place in Division One of the Craven League.

Sutton’s latest victory at Ingrow, coupled with Meths’ defeat at Barrowford, means that the Baildon Bottom side are a mere six points in front of the demotion line with four matches left.

And what’s more, second-from-bottom Meths host Sutton on September 3.

Meths won the toss but could only make 90, with Naseeb Ali (15) and Ammar Ahmed (25) the only players to unduly trouble the scorers.

Barrowford then breezed home by eight wickets in just 12 overs.

At the other end of the table, leaders Bingley Congs have extended their advantage over second-placed Oakworth to 35 points.

Congs, sent in at Hepworth & Idle, made 193, the foundation of which was a second-wicket partnership of 103 between opener George Hicks (82) and Johandre Barnard (48).

The Westfield Laners’ fifth and sixth bowlers, Jonny Thompson and Mark Harland, were their most successful, taking 5-27 and 3-15 respectively.

Ryan Welsh made 51 in the reply and Thompson 41, with the pair putting on 72 for the fourth wicket, but Matty Roberts (4-20) led Congs to a 44-run win.

Wilsden only lost by 12 runs n a low-scoring affair against Oakworth at Wide Lane.

The hosts made 122, with Sam Mitchell taking 5-48, but the visitors could only reply with 110, despite 38 from opener Chris Mitchell, 26 from Hasnat Bukhari and 19 from skipper Sam Mitchell.

In Division Two, Bradford & Bingley III have slipped to the bottom-of the table by a point, changing places with improving Airedale, who beat them by three wickets at the Airedale Oval.

Bingley opted to bat and made 186, which included a run-a-ball 50 from Brad Davis, who hit eight fours, 42 from Shahbaz Ahmed and 22 each from experienced duo Adam Swallow and Craig Cockshott, with Ahmed and Swallow putting on 53 for the fifth wicket.

The match was in the balance until the hosts were seen home with two balls to spare by an unbroken stand of 53.

Eldwick & Gilstead dropped to fourth after a 140-run defeat at their landlords, leaders Riddlesden.

The Keighley side racked up 272, with Chris Child taking 4-61, but the twin villages were then castled for 132, despite 32 each from Stephen Timperley and Pat Carberry and 26 by Kieren Temprell.

Bingley Congs II lost by 12 runs at home to Barrowford II.

In Division Three, second-placed Hepworth & Idle II had a free week, which allowed Cononley to narrow the gap between them to two points by winning by 102 runs at Wilsden II.

Jack Dooley took 3-39 in Cononley’s 262-5, and Wilsden replied with 160 after openers Adil (52) and Nigel Butterfield (21) had shone, Liaqat Ali (23) and Bryn Pacey (23no) chipping in down the order.

Hepworth & Idle III lost a good contest at home to Ingrow II after making 140, with Chris Newell (39) and skipper Danny Moore (45) putting on 83 for the seventh wicket after they were 40-6.
