THERE was a bumper football programme last night, as Eccleshill United suffered late agony in their top-of-the-table clash at home to North Ferriby in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

It looked bleak when they were 2-0 down to goals from Daniel East and Danny Earl either side of the break.

But two late goals from Joao Silva looked to have snatched the Eagles a point.

But there was still time for one more goal, and T'nique Fishley popped up to win it for North Ferriby in the last minute.

It was the opposite scenario for Silsden, who came back to win 3-2 at Frickley Athletic.

Keelan Grist put the hosts in front, but Harry Thompson quickly equalised.

Alhassane Keita missed a penalty for Frickley, but they got another chanced from the spot two minutes later, with Ben Hall converting on this occasion.

Silsden looked set to lose, but then two late goals from Luke Brooksbank turned the game on its head and gave them the win instead.

Thackley raced into a two-goal lead at Hallam thanks to a Tom Greaves double.

But the Sheffield side were level by half-time courtesy of Aaron Fell and Scott Ruthven.

And the hosts kept up that momentum in the second half, with two Danny Deakin goals sealing a 4-2 victory.

In the Northern Premier League East Division, Brighouse Town drew 1-1 with Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Bobby Pointon, on loan from Bradford City, scored his second goal in two games, as visitors Brig opened the scoring early in the second half.

It was a fine strike too, with the youngster driving past three or four opponents before firing the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner.

But there was late agony for the visitors, as Jordan Lemon netted a last-minute equaliser for Stocksbridge.

Newly-promoted Liversedge grabbed their first-ever win in the NPL Premier Division, beating Whitby Town 3-2.

Hosts Whitby went in front after 14 minutes courtesy of Marcus Giles, but two quickfire goals from Jack Stockdill and James Hurtley put Sedge in front.

Harry Green equalised for Whitby just before the break, but it was Sedge who won the game, Paul Walker netting the winner with 13 minutes to go.

Freshly-relegated Guiseley also grabbed their first win of the season in the same division, 3-1 at Morpeth Town.

Dale Pearson put the hosts in front after 29 minutes, but three goals in five minutes after the break, courtesy of Adam Haw, Bantams loanee Charlie Wood and Jake Cassidy secured the win for Guiseley.

Finally, Farsley Celtic lost 2-1 at home to AFC Fylde in National League North.

The visitors went ahead in the opening minute through Luke Conlan, but a Frank Mulhern penalty ensured Farsley went into the break level.

But they went away empty-handed, as Nick Haughton netted the winner for Fylde with just under 20 minutes to go.
