BINGLEY Congs had an afternoon to remember at home to Barrowford.

The Craven League Division One leaders dismissed the Lancastrians for just 17 after tea.

Not surprisingly they only used two bowlers, with Matty Roberts taking 6-11 and Harry Greenhalgh 3-2, as five players recorded ducks and only four scored runs.

Ten-man Barrowford were unlucky, however, in that Freddie Bailey, named on the team-sheet, was missing due to the loss of a family pet.

Meanwhile, opener Abdul Moeez Cheema, who was not wearing a helmet, top-edged the ball into his face and had to retire, but had recovered enough to bat lower down the order.

Earlier Congs had made 234-6, with Johandre Barnard finding his batting mojo with 119 not out, made off 117 balls and containing 16 fours.

Opener George Hicks (23) helped him add 81 for the second wicket, while Roberts, who is having a stellar season, scored 29 and put on 55 for the sixth wicket with the South African.

Meanwhile, third-placed Hepworth & Idle suffered a shock defeat at struggling Sutton, who dismissed them for 113, with openers Jamie Topham and Nigel Poustie both going for ducks.

Tom Hawksworth (29), Ryan Welsh (12) and skipper Simon Raistrick (42) at least made double figures, but the dye was cast once David Snowden (43) and Sam Solley (30) had put on 77 for the first wicket in reply, and the Westfield Laners lost by eight wickets in the 26th over.

Haworth Road Meths lost a decent contest at home to Haworth by two wickets, making 198-7 after batting first.

Meths’ first four all made solid contributions, with openers Naseeb Ali and Paul Rodwell making 33 and 24 respectively, followed by Ian Robson (24) and Goher Ayoub (29).

Thereafter Mohammed Sajjad (32no) and Charlie Hainsworth (26) contributed, but Haworth’s top four also did well, and Mohammed Ibrahim (2-46) and Sajjad (3-36) ended up on the wrong side of the ledger.

Cowling had first knock at Wilsden and made 127, Chris Longley (5-30) and Hasnat Bukhari (3-24) doing well with the ball.

Wilsden were then in deep trouble at 28-5 before they were rescued by the talented Bukhari, who added 100 unbroken with Pete Longley (15no) to see them to a five-wicket win in the 22nd over.

Bukhari finished on 85 not out, made off just 59 balls and including eight fours and eight sixes.

Eldwick & Gilstead are in second place in Division Two, but are only ahead of Long Lee on a mathematical runs-per-wicket calculation (3.87 compared to 3.36) as both are on 243 points.

The twin villages ended Bingley Congs’ revival, castling them for 93, after they had been 36-6, at Grange Road, with only skipper Jimmy Dennison (24) making any impact with the bat.

Ajeet Singh (6-26) and Matthew Sharp (3-33) formed a potent double act with the ball before Sharp switched to batting, making 64 not out off 72 balls, including 10 fours, as E&G won by six wickets.

Bradford & Bingley III had league permission to switch their match against Silsden to the Cobbydalers’ ground, but it did them little good.

Promotion-seeking Silsden, now fourth on 238 points, made 264-6, with Samuel Gokhale (2-24) the best of seven bowlers used.

Bingley then scored 137, with all three Gokhales making double figures - Oliver (19), Samuel (14) and Jay (17no) - as Brad Davis (31) and Daanyal Khan (23) top-scored.

Bingley are still in a relegation berth, four points behind third-from-bottom Skipton CI.

In Division Three, Hepworth & Idle II lost their top-of-the-table clash at home to leaders Thornton-in-Craven, who restricted the Westfield Laners to 144-9.

Mark Davies’ 61 not out was the stand-out innings for the home side, and he was aided by Yousaf Iqbal (21) but they still went from 33-0 to 36-4.

Thornton-in-Craven won by eight wickets in the 30th over, Muhammad Abdullah taking both wickets at a cost of 30 runs, and they seem almost home and hosed as they lead the table by 55 points with five matches left.

Wilsden II conceded a walkover to third-placed Cononley.

In Division Four, Bingley Congs III still lead the table, but only by a point now after a four-wicket loss at Airedale II, who are third, 18 points behind.

Congs made 180-7, with six of the first seven reaching double figures, Kayan Mahmood (41) and Jordan Robinson (40) leading the way.

They put on 64 for the second wicket, with Andy Copping (16), James Farrell (20), skipper Rob Stow (18) and newcomer Ben Blagden (11) chipping in.

Airedale’s top seven also included six in double figures, with Warren Coppack’s 60 not out the telling knock to deny Andy Greenwood (2-49), Copping (2-32) and Rayan Mahmood (2-36).
