SAM Mitchell has returned season’s-best figures in the Craven League.

The opening bowler took a magnificent 9-20 as Wilsden defeated visitors Sutton in Division One.

Sutton won the toss and opted to bat, but were skittled for 59, with Bryn Pacey taking the sixth wicket to fall, preventing the chance of an all-ten.

Wilsden won by six wickets in the 10th over, with opener Chris Mitchell making 26 and Hasnat Bukhari 23.

Bingley Congs won their Wynn Cup semi-final rehearsal, this time at Keighley Road, defeating hosts Denholme by 89 runs.

The leaders chose to bat and made 194, with George Hicks (50) shoring up the top order before Neil Copping (46) helped him add 62 for the fifth wicket.

Dave Tarren (27) and Matty Roberts (49) then added late runs.

Denholme had no answer to Roberts (5-37) and Danny Pearson (4-30) as Congs extended their lead over second-placed Oakworth by a point to four points.

Hepworth & Idle may be fourth in the table, but they were walloped by third-placed Gargrave by 99 runs after the hosts made 248-4, with only Jonathan Robinson keeping them in check.

No-one made over 30 for the Westfield Laners in their 149, with Ryan Welsh scoring 25, Muzaffar Hussain 23 and keeper James Bentley 29, with Bentley adding 52 for the sixth wicket with Robinson (18).

Haworth Road Meths are third from bottom, but are now only two points ahead of Ingrow, who beat them and are threatening to climb out of the relegation places.

Ingrow opted to bat at Baildon Bottom and made 165-9, with Mohammad Ibrahim taking 4-17 and Ammar Ahmed 3-36.

Meths then crumbled for 76, with only Mansha Khan (27) offering any great resistance.

Eldwick & Gilstead are third in Division Two but need a consistent run to overhaul Silsden in second place.

The twin villages were sent in at home to Skipton CI and made 160, with opener Stephen Timperley scoring 42 and keeper Mark Roach (28), who put on 51 for the eighth wicket with Jordan Bayliss (18) before No.11 Tom Wharton made 25.

Fourth-placed CI were then dismissed for 132, with Bayliss taking 4-16, Chris Child 3-42 and Arnie Raistrick 2-38.

Bingley Congs II, who won the toss at Beckfoot Lane, chose to bat against leaders Riddlesden and made 139-9, Tony Teale finishing unbeaten on 49.

Riddlesden then won by eight wickets in the 24th over.

Bradford & Bingley III’s home match against Glusburn was ruled out due to an unfit pitch at Sandy Lane after morning rain.

Hepworth & Idle II are in the promotion hunt from Division Three, going second behind Thornton-in-Craven after a comprehensive win over Gargrave II at Westfield Lane.

Owen Price took 5-33 and Muhammad Abdullah 2-6 as the visitors were back in the pavilion for 86, and Malcolm Kershaw (37no) and Chris Hawksworth (50no) then took the hosts to a ten-wicket victory.

It is getting tight in Division Four, with leaders Bingley Congs III losing at Glusburn II by two wickets.

Andy Copping’s 76 helped propel Congs to 156, with minor contributions from Safraz Mahmood (17), keeper Sam Higgins (26) and Andy Greenwood (11no), the latter duo adding 33 for the last wicket.

It still wasn’t enough though, despite Simon Webster taking 4-24, Greenwood 2-10 and Mahmood 2-23.

Hepworth & Idle III handed Sutton II only their second victory of the season, Dave Dunne taking 2-7 and Daniel Moore 2-21 in Sutton’s 166-7.

Hepworth & Idle finished on 142-9, with contributions from Bradley Elliott (25), Eric Poustie (25) and Dunne (36), with the former duo putting on 48 for the first wicket before Poustie added 65 for the second with Dunne.
