THE son of a Bantams legend and a former Bradford (Park Avenue) player has secured his first professional contract.

Jordan Windass has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at National League giants Oldham Athletic.

The right-sided player enjoyed the last two seasons at Park Avenue, with his 35-yard rocket against Boston United a particular highlight.

On the move, Windass, youngest son of ex City striker Dean and brother of current Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Josh, said: “This is a very big opportunity for me and I’m really happy to be at a club of this size.

"I spoke to the manager a few weeks ago, he gave me some good insight into what he wants to achieve and I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

“I’m a player with good technique, I like to cross the ball, I enjoy beating players and I’ve got good versatility.

“This is a big step for me personally but I’m confident I can fit into the team and I’m determined to make the most of the chance.”

The 22-year-old departed Horsfall last month upon the expiry of his contract, along with fellow youngsters Akeem Hinds and Luke Rawson.

At the time, manager Mark Bower said: “They’re young players who want regular football, and need it.

“As a club, you want to make a few changes every summer to keep improving, and we just didn’t think they would get the game time they were after next season.

“But they all had an impact at times this season, so we’re grateful to them, and I hope going forward they get more games in their careers and keep pushing themselves.”
