THREE former members of the world’s top ten are the headline entries for next month’s Ilkley Trophy.

Fernando Verdasco, Jack Sock and Kristina Mladenovic are the big-name stars that will be strutting their stuff in the Wimbledon warm-up tournament, which is being held at Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club from June 12-19.

Spanish left-hander Verdasco, at 38, may be in the twilight of his career but the former world No 7 has pedigree on all surfaces, reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 2009 and the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2004, both on hard courts.

He also got to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 2013, where he led Andy Murray by two sets to love before losing to the eventual champion in five sets.

Injury has held back the career of American Jack Sock, including a problem with his right thumb, but the former world No 8 has reached the fourth round at both the French and US opens and the third round at Wimbledon.

Mladenovic, also 29, has been as high as No 10 in the WTA rankings, has gone to the last eight in both the US and French opens.

Like Sock, though, she has an even better record in doubles, being a former world No 1 and has won five women’s doubles Grand Slam titles.

Sock has won the men’s doubles at Wimbledon twice and the US Open once.

British interest at the $125,000 ATP Challenger and $100,000 Women’s World Tour events at llkley, which returns after a two-year absence, will centre on Katie Boulter, Liam Broady, Ryan Peniston, Katie Swan and Keighley’s Francesca Jones.

The entry list for what is the biggest tournament in the North of England this year and the sixth biggest in the United Kingdom also includes Wimbledon runner-up Sabine Lisicki, who may have to go into qualifying unless she receives a wild card.

Top seeds are likely to be Jiri Veseley, of the Czech Republic, who is world ranked 73, and Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson, who is ranked 87.

Among those returning to Ilkley are Australian John Millman (who has had two epic Grand Slam matches against Roger Federer), Jason Kubler, Sebastian Ofner, Go Soeda, Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove and Asia Muhammad.
