A BRADFORD road motorcycle racer earned a podium finish in one of the biggest events in the calendar.

Dean Harrison, of the DAO Racing Kawasaki team, finished third in the CP Hire Superstock class at the North West 200, Ireland's largest outdoor sporting event.

He completed the race in 26.46.521, missing out to winner Alastair Seeley, of Yamaha, in 26.23.700 and second-placed Lee Johnston, of BMW - Ashcourt Racing, who clocked 26.35.442.

Harrison took part in other classes at the event.

Meanwhile, Harrison finished fourth in the Tides Restaurant Supersport race two event, in 28.02.148. Johnston won this test in 27.31.644.

Harrison finished sixth in the Strain Engineering Supersport race in 20.39.743.

Another Bradford rider, Bingley's Ian Hutchinson, came fourth in the feature Superbike race, with Glenn Irwin the winner.

The race, which has not been held for the last two years due to the pandemic, was created in 1929.

It is held on an 8.970-mile street circuit known as the Triangle between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush in Causeway Coast and Glens.

The course is one of the fastest in the world, with average speeds of 120 mph and top speeds in excess of 200 mph.

In the build-up to the event, Harrison said he was excited at the prospect of returning to an event he first starred in back in 2012.
