IT'S make or break for Eccleshill United today, with a promotion deciding game on the line.

Lee Elam's side travel to Bedfordshire side Kempston Rovers in their Inter-Step Play-Off final fixture, as the Eagles look for promotion to Step Four.

After such a blistering campaign, in which they finished second, Utd will be hoping to finish the job off this afternoon and go out in style.

Looking ahead to this fixture, Eccleshill's boss Elam said: "To me personally and the club, it would mean a lot for us to get promotion to Step Four.

"I've spoke to several people who work behind the scenes at the club and they told me that Eccleshill have never been as high as Step Four in their history, something I wasn't aware of.

"So, it would be a fantastic achievement for this group of players, and they would go down in the history books of this club.

"I came in originally to try and help this club push up the league and we are close to doing it. We've got one more push to conclude a brilliant season. Not only will it be nice to make history, but we have worked our socks off this season and we thoroughly deserve promotion.

"I've made the players aware of the size of this task. We are going to finish the job properly, so that means preparing in the best possible way. We stayed in a hotel on Friday (last night), so we can set ourselves and make sure we are fully prepared for this huge game. As long as the lads give their all, then we can be happy. I know the group are extremely excited for it."

Elam added: "We will look to maintain the same standards we have shown throughout the season, and continue with how we play. I don't want to change things too much because we are a group high in confidence at the moment.

"Obviously, I've done my research on the opposition and will make slight tweaks, as and when I need to, but for the most part we will look to attack the game in a similar manner. "

Away from Eccleshill United, Elam was recently confirmed as the new Kashmir FA manager and he will take the reigns as the new boss of the international football side.

He will continue to manage Eccleshill as well, with his aim being to juggle both roles.

He said: "I've always had a good relationship with a number of the staff at the Kashmir set-up, and I have spoken to them a lot over the past year or so.

"Our relationship has grown from there and then I was approached to see if I would like to take on the vacant manager's role and I was immediately interested to take it on.

"We've had lengthy discussions about the future plans for the team and what avenues we would like to pursue. They have a great set up, a talented bunch of players and the goal will be to get the team playing in more international fixtures. It's all very exciting."

Elam added: "Because the games are few and far between, it means I can continue to focus on Eccleshill as well. It's going to be more of a balancing act but I know it will work."
