YORKSHIRE seamer Matthew Fisher is making his debut for England today in Barbados.
He received a surprise call-up to the 16-man Test squad to travel to the West Indies for the three-match series, ahead of England stalwarts James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
But down the pecking order still, it looked like he might miss out on playing in any of the five-day games.
But with Ollie Robinson not fully fit, Mark Wood nursing an elbow injury and Craig Overton falling ill, a spot opened up for the 24-year-old seamer in the starting line up.
Both he and a Roses rival, Lancashire pace bowler Saqib Mahmood, are making their debuts for their country in the longer format, with Fisher becoming England's 703rd Test cap.
Neither he nor Mahmood have had the chance to shine yet, with England currently batting on day one.
