THACKLEY AFC have lots to look forward late next month.

Non-League Day is on Saturday, March 26, when Thackley host Knaresborough Town in the NCEL Premier Division.

But the star attraction that day will be former EFL stalwart Jon Parkin, who is doing a Q&A at the club from 7pm that evening.

The big striker was part of the Stoke City side that were promoted to the Premier League, and proved a popular figure at clubs like York City, Hull City and Preston North End.

Tickets for the event cost £20, and are selling fast. You can reserve one by direct messaging the club on Twitter, or by emailing them at: events@thackley-afc.co.uk

Just three days after Parkin attends Dennyfield, Thackley have their big NCEL League Cup quarter-final at Barton Town.

This is the furthest they have gone in the competition since 2016, and they reached the last-eight this time by winning 1-0 at Maltby Main last month.

In other news at Thackley, veteran goalkeeper Mark Bower has left the club to join Glasshoughton Welfare, so won’t be available for Thackley’s game today at struggling Emley.

High-flying Eccleshill United are at Goole, while Silsden will be eyeing up a home win over Staveley Miners Welfare.

In the NPL East Division, leaders Liversedge are at Bridlington, while Brighouse Town host Yorkshire Amateur.

Campion are at AFC Blackpool in the NWCFL First Division North while Ilkley Town visit Steeton.

There is some good news for the latter, who have solved their goalkeeping injury crisis for now by bringing in American stopper Cameron Perron, who is a student at RIASA Soccer.

There is good goalkeeping news for Guiseley in National League North too, with stopper Owen Mason having his loan extended at the club until March 10 by his parent club Mansfield Town.

He is likely to be between the sticks for their league game at Hereford, while bottom side Farsley Celtic host fellow strugglers Gloucester City.
