Omar Daley hopes to answer a few home truths by hitting the goals that push City back up League Two.

Stuart McCall reckons the Jamaican international, who has netted only once this season, should have scored half a dozen.

And now his old boss at Portmore United in the Caribbean has got on Daley's case.

Daley said: "I was speaking to my manager in Jamaica from my old team and he said that I need to start scoring again.

"In Jamaica I used to score often and that's all that is missing from my game now.

"I've set myself a target this season that I will get eight goals. I know I've only got the one so far but there are still quite a few games to go so it can happen."

Daley had a hand in both goals at Bury, where McCall employed him on both flanks as well as down the middle as Barry Conlon's strike partner after Peter Thorne went off.

"I don't mind where the gaffer plays me but I really enjoy it on the left side with Hecky (Paul Heckingbottom). He is very experienced and does a lot for me as a player.

"I tend to just think about attacking all the time but it's not all about that and Hecky reminds me that you've got to do the defensive bit as well.

"It also helps that Joe Colbeck shares the work with me going forward. I'm really happy he's finding his feet again and think he looks a different player since he has been on loan."

Daley still speaks regularly to Jermaine Johnson and Damion Stewart but has not been tempted to follow his fellow Jamaicans out of Valley Parade.

Having penned a new deal this week keeping him at City until June 2011, he is confident of enjoying the same success as his Reggae Boyz team-mates under Stuart McCall's leadership.

"I've settled well since day one here and I feel I'm becoming part of the family," added Daley, who joined a year ago from Charleston Battery. "That's why I am very happy to get the new contract and can look forward to the rest of my season.

"I know this club is going to head back to big things and I want to be a part of it.

"The gaffer has a winning mentality and we all have to accept that. He doesn't like to lose.

"I'm really happy to get the new contract and as long as the gaffer is at this club, I know I will definitely be a winner with him."

And even though City remain well adrift of the play-off pack, Daley has not completely ruled out a glorious finale to the current campaign.

Bury's spectacular late equaliser robbed them of a third straight win but the speedster believes City are now going in the right direction as they eye three more points at Wrexham tomorrow.

"You can sit down and keep talking about the frustration. Deep down we know we're a much better team than our position but it comes down to being consistent.

"But I look at the table and still think we can go for a promotion push this season. We can't get ahead of ourselves but I think we've gone through the roughest patch and survived that and we still have a good chance.

"The players are sticking to the task every day in training and it can still happen."

Getting Daley's signature on a long-term deal was the best bit of business McCall has done in the transfer window.

The City boss has been nowhere near as busy as Wrexham counterpart Brian Little, who has brought in NINE new faces since taking the Racecourse Ground helm in November.

Six of those started last week's shock win over leaders MK Dons, which lifted the basement side to within four points of safety.

That result came out of the blue considering that Wrexham had previously lost eight on the bounce - a nightmare slump that included a Welsh Cup defeat at Llanelli when Little fielded his strongest side.

But the team City will face tomorrow are much changed, although Paul Hall - one of the new arrivals on loan from Walsall - is very doubtful with a hamstring strain.

Sam Aiston, who played under Little at Tranmere, is set to be added to the squad after missing out last week with a knee injury.
