YORKSHIRE County Cricket Club have announced that Jim Love has become a mentor and advisor to the academy.

Love inspired Yorkshire to Benson & Hedges Cup glory in 1987 after scoring 75 not out against Northamptonshire at Lord’s in the final.

This was arguably his most decorated performance in an impressive Yorkshire career consisting of 220 List A and 247 First Class appearances.

Love will take on his new role with immediate effect after previously serving as Yorkshire’s County Age Group Performance Manager.

James Martin, the Yorkshire Cricket Board’s Head of Region for East Yorkshire, will take up the role of Acting Head of County Age Group until September.

An open recruitment process will then follow when a permanent position is advertised.
