THE Bradford Premier League dinner has been postponed for a second time.

The latest attempt to stage the event would have seen it held at the Queens Hotel, Leeds on Friday, January 14, but it has been rearranged for Friday, March 11 due to increasing Omicron infections.

League officials have taken the decision despite no additional measures being introduced by the Government to deal with Covid-19

The management board has always made the health of the Bradford Premier League community their key priority throughout the pandemic and have decided that holding an event with 440 guests is inappropriate at this time.

After talks with the Queens Hotel, it was agreed that the event would be put back two months in line with other corporate events planned for the venue this month.

Impressionist Kevin Connelly is confirmed as guest speaker and the menu and ticket prices remain unaltered.

League secretary Chris Leathley is now busy arranging the event for a third time.

The dinner was originally due to be staged at Headingley on November 19, but was postponed due to the racism issues surrounding Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

A statement from the league said: "The health and well-being of the Bradford Premier League community has been the management board's number one priority throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It would have been wrong to push ahead with the dinner on January 14 when infection rates are so high.

"It is important that we have the opportunity for the league to celebrate the many individual achievements from the 2021 season, but that must be done safely and by delaying the event by two months we believe we have a far better chance of achieving that.

"The new date provides an opportunity to bring people together prior to the 2022 season, and thanks to the understanding and support of the Queens Hotel, we now have the opportunity to do that.

"The 440 tickets that have been sold are exactly the reason we are determined to do all we can, as safely as we can, to deliver a dinner that rewards the incredible support we have received from our clubs.

"Chris Leathley will be contacting all clubs directly regarding the new arrangements. We urge clubs to wait to be contacted rather than bombard the league secretary with phone calls."
