JOSH Sullivan’s brilliant 4-11 from two overs and Will Fraine’s blistering unbeaten 69 helped Yorkshire take a giant step towards the Royal London Cup knockout stages with a pulsating 10-over win against Derbyshire at Chesterfield.

Heavy rain showers throughout the day delayed the start until 4.56pm, with a 10-overs per side game starting and the hosts posting 108-6.

Sullivan, the 21-year-old leg-spinner, claimed three wickets in his first four balls and one more in his second over, before Fynn Hudson-Prentice’s 38 off 17 balls took the Falcons to a commanding total at a soggy Queen’s Park.

But, in reply, opener Fraine flew out of the blocks and posted a 19-ball fifty as the Vikings dismantled that target to move into the top three places in Group B with a third win and a total of eight points from seven games.

They now travel to Cardiff to face group leaders Glamorgan on Thursday in the final game knowing a win will secure their qualification. They may even advance without that.

Fraine finished with a career best 69 off 32 balls, including five fours and four sixes.

His 19-ball fifty was Yorkshire’s fastest ever in List A cricket.

Sullivan’s figures stood out by a mile in Yorkshire’s six-man attack after Gary Ballance had elected to field.

Sullivan, playing only his second game in the first team, struck with his first ball in the sixth over when Tom Wood slog swept him to deep mid-wicket, leaving the score at 49-2.

Two balls later, he had Brooke Guest stumped and had Alex Hughes caught at square-leg sweeping next ball - 50-4.

In his next, the eighth, opener Harry Came (28 off 18 balls) skewed him to cover as the score fell to 79-5.

Hudson-Prentice crashed four sixes and a four in his innings.

The Vikings then flew out of the blocks in reply, with Fraine doing the bulk of the damage.

He hit two fours and a six over long-off as 19 came off Hudson-Prentice’s seam in the first over.

Revis, elevated to open, hit two boundaries before holing out to former West Indies quick Ravi Rampaul at the end of the second, leaving the the score at 28-1.

Fraine continued his assault, later hoisting Mattie McKiernan’s leg-spin on to the pavilion balcony for six to move into the forties.

Yorkshire reached halfway at 72-1, needing 37 more in five overs, and with the game all but theirs.

Will Luxton cleared the ropes once in a more than useful 20 off 11 balls, but fell to George Scrimshaw with the game all but won (92-2 in the seventh).

Fraine later hit the winning runs.
