FARAKH Hussain smashed a century in just 39 balls for leaders Jer Lane in their 96-run Division Two run win at Hopton Mills.

The big-hitting left hander hit 14 sixes and five fours in his 108, making it the fastest century since the formation of the Bradford Premier League in 2016.

Hussain's performance was the individual highlight of a day that saw the battle for honours hot up in all four first team divisions.

New Farnley and Townville both took advantage of champions Woodlands again being sidelined - their match with Farsley being postponed due to Covid-19 - by recording wins.

Leaders New Farnley bagged 18 points from a six-wicket victory at Wrenthorpe, while Townville picked up 19 for their four-wicket triumph at Hanging Heaton.

Townville now have 228 points and are five behind New Farnley have played a game less. Third-placed Woodlands have 212 points and have played two games less than the leaders and one fewer than Townville.

Bradford & Bingley recovered from 25-3 to make 221 as they defeated Cleckheaton by 54 runs.

Wicketkeeper Matthew Duce (86) and skipper Ed Brown (60) led the rival against an attack led by the impressive Harvey Booth (6-68).

Cleckheaton could only muster 167 in response as Bradley Reeve (3-16), Yasir Abbas (3-48) and Jack Hartley (3-55) got to work. Toby Booth (34) and Amir Hussain (30) proved to be the top scorers.

An unbeaten 59 from Yasir Ali proved decisive as Methley edged home by two wickets against second bottom Morley, while Batley remain rooted to the bottom after a 39-run loss at home to Pudsey St Lawrence.

Bankfoot and Ossett remain tied at the top of Division One after both earned maximum points for wins over Birstall and East Bierley respectively.

The Bankfoot batsmen set up their latest triumph with skipper James Lee (61) and Hisan Ahmad (54) setting the tone with an opening stand of 104, as an eventual total of 273-9 was posted.

Birstall now find themselves 25 points behind the joint leaders after crumbling to 113 all out in their reply. Spinners Seif Hussain (4-44) and Andy Stothart (3-14) sealed a 160-run win for Bankfoot.

Ossett's four-wicket victory featured a fine unbeaten 82 from opener Marcus Walmsley as they chased down East Bierley's 239. Reece Clark (3-47) proved to be the best of the home side's bowlers.

Defeat was tough on East Bierley opener Matthew West who is eight sixes and six fours while making 104.

There is just no stopping Carlton. After failing to win any of their first nine games they have now reeled off six straight victories to climb to fifth, and their latest success saw them overcome Keighley by 62 runs.

Hartshead Moor gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a boost with a five-wicket win over Baildon.

Moor are now just two points behind Gomersal who suffered a nine-wicket defeat against Undercliffe. Opener Oliver Hardaker impressed again for the Intake Road side with a sizzling 172 not out as he and Billy Whitford shared an opening stand of 228.

Hardaker smashed ten sixes and 22 fours as Gomersal's total of 229-6 was overhauled in just 29.4 overs.

Pudsey Congs continued their good form with a six-wicket win over Lightcliffe.

While Jer Lane were romping to that aforementioned win over Hopton Mills, Northowram Fields boosted their Division Two promotion challenge by moving into second place with an eight-wicket in over bottom side Spen Victoria.

Sandal and Buttershaw St Paul's both saw their promotion hopes suffer setbacks. Sandal lost by seven wickets against East Ardsley while Buttershaw St Paul's went down by 117 runs to Bowling Old Lane.

St Paul's were bowled out for 101 as Old Lane bowlers Zeeshan Haider (4-35) and Adam Zahid (3-39) ran through them.

Ahsan Aishan (76) and Haider (50) helped Bowling post 218 as Michael Flathers (3-30), Zafar Jadoon (3-58) and Amer Ayoub (3-63) shared the wickets.

Gulsheraz Ahmed continued his good form for Yeadon by making an unbeaten 116 as they scored 292-7 in their 111-run win over relegation-threatened Scholes.

Hunslet Nelson are now 30 points clear of second-bottom Scholes after their two-wicket win over Wakefield St Michael's.

Division Three leaders Crossflatts compiled the day's highest score of 315 as they defeated Adwalton by 167 runs to extend their lead to 24 points.

With regular openers Josh Brooksbank and Joe Hicks absent, Mohammad Shahnawaz was pushed up to the top of the order and responded with 47.

Joe Greenwood (68) and skipper Dom Bennett (59) carried on the good work while adding 108 for the third wicket before Brannan Law weighed in with a breezy 53.

Adwalton were dismissed for 148 when they replied as Shahnawaz (4-73) and Mayank Singh (3-54) ensured Crossflatts bagged another 20-point maximum.

Opener Shahzaib Khan made 71 as second place Brighouse scored 217 in their 102-run win over Altofts. Star bowlers Owaise Mehmood (3-16) and Masroor Ahmed (3-16) sealed Brighouse's victory.

Great Preston maintained their promotion challenge but were made to work hard to secure an eight-run win over Crossbank Methodists.

East Leeds powered to a nine-wicket victory against bottom team Rodley, while Adam Clarke (5-44) helped Liversedge to bowl out Windhill & Daisy Hill for 90 as they secured a commanding 153-run win.

Asad Mahmood (67), Mathew Gibson (64) and Shoaib Rehman (38) helped Liversedge to make 243-7.

Gildersome & Farnley Hill continued their good recent form with a six-wicket success against Heckmondwike & Carlinghow.
