CITY’S Under-18s finished their 2020/21 campaign with a 3-0 away loss to Huddersfield in the EFL Youth Alliance North East Division.

The Terriers netted three second-half goals, which was enough for them to see off the young Bantams at Canalside.

The first opportunity of the game fell to the visitors, when Jack Wilson’s effort from just outside the 18-yard box was denied by goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic.

City’s West Yorkshire neighbours then went close to breaking the deadlock when Conor Falls’ left-footed volley narrowly missed the target.

There were no further goal-scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, as the contest remained goalless heading into the interval.

The Bantams almost netted in the early stages of the second period, but Bobby Pointon’s left-footed attempt was kept out by the keeper.

The home side then had a chance to open the scoring when Luke Davey’s dangerous cross was struck wide by Falls.

However, moments later, the Terriers did hit the front when Davey’s low cross from the left-hand side was struck into the top corner by Ernaldo Krasniqi.

The away side went close to equalising when Connor Morris’ fierce volley was pushed out for a corner by Bilokapic.

The hosts doubled their advantage when another low ball into the penalty area from Davey was this time tapped in by Falls.

The Terriers then went on to add to their lead when Brahima Diarra ran into the 18-yard box before striking his right-footed effort into the bottom corner of the net.

City very nearly pulled a goal back when substitute Freddy Jeffreys’ attempt was cleared off the goal-line by David Adewoju.

The home side almost scored a fourth, but Falls’ effort was stopped just in front of the line by defender Sam Bentley.

The hosts successfully maintained their clean sheet and earned all three points against the Bantams.

The result leaves City third-bottom of the table. They could be still be overtaken by Doncaster, who are two points behind and play their final game at home to Mansfield on Saturday.
