A freak late goal denied City a point at promotion-chasing Peterborough this afternoon.
The Bantams looked to be hanging on for a 1-1 draw despite Posh dominating the second half.
But with only two minutes of normal time left, a hopeful drive from defender Craig Morgan cannoned off the unsuspecting Jeff Hughes to give Donovan Ricketts no chance.
City had grabbed the lead after 11 minutes as Kyle Nix got on the end of an excellent free-kick from Paul Heckingbottom to nod his second goal in successive games.
But Posh stepped it up hugely after the break and were gifted an equaliser by an awful mistake from Ricketts. The big Jamaican spilled a simple shot from Dean Keates, allowing Aaron McLean to tap in his 19th goal of the season.
City hung on as Keates and Craig Mackail-Smith both missed good chances. Then Hughes thundered a shot against the bar.
City belatedly came to life as an attacking force with Omar Daley just wide with an audacious long-range lob and Joe Colbeck firing over after a good cross from Tom Penford on his first start of the season.
It seemed that the Bantams had done enough to hold on for a precious point. But that was snatched from their grasp by a wicked deflection.
CITY: Ricketts, Williams, Wetherall, Bower, Heckingbottom, Colbeck, Evans, Penford, Nix, Daley, Thorne. Subs: Conlon, Rhodes, Ainge, Phelan, Ndumbu-Nsungu.
