KEIGHLEY Albion have run their Albion Antz program for 3–5-year-olds successfully for 7 years, however 2021 promises to be their biggest yet.

Albion have spent over £1,000 in brand new specialist equipment raised through donations during lockdown.

Keighley’s young guns have had a Superhero make over, with a newly designed Rugby shirt influenced by the 2015 Marvel and Walt Disney studios film ‘Ant Man’ which they can show off their newly acquired skills in.

This also includes the introduction of new program ambassador, who is a Superhero in his own right, Captain Cougar Jake Webster!

Webster is a New Zealand International who has played at the top levels in Australia and the UK for almost two decades, with his previous clubs including Melbourne Storm; Gold Coast Titans; Castleford Tigers and Hull Kingston Rovers.

Jake will make player appearances across the course of the program, hoping to inspire more juniors to get involved in the sport.

Not only has the program been rebranded to get children excited about sport again, but Albion have introduced a ‘Pay What You Can’ scheme to ensure it is made affordable to all.

Rob Spencer, one of the clubs committee members and Antz coaches explained, “We appreciate that the past 12 months has been a very challenging time and brought about financial stresses for many - whilst so many children have been less physically active during the lockdowns.

“Our club committee has decided that our Antz 2021 program will run on a Pay What You Can basis.

“Generally, the cost for our Antz is £40 for the full program - however the importance of getting kids back into sport should not be impacted by affordability at this time. Therefore, we’ll ask that people ‘PWYC’, being able to make a donation to the club at each of our sessions.

“If you’re not in a position to make a donation, that is absolutely fine - we just want to see more young people being active this summer!”

The weekly-run program is set to launch at the club’s ground in Crossflatts on Saturday 3rd April 10-11am, with fellow Super Hero’s Captain America and Spider-Man, as well as Keighley’s MP Robbie Moore all set to be in attendance!

For track and trace purposes and capacity - ALL Antz must be registered to take part in the sessions. There is still some availability for the Antz program, and the club are encouraging to book earlier to save disappointment - the link to register is below:
