BRADFORD cricketer Jonny Bairstow may have been having a tough time of things in the Test arena of late, but he continues to impress in the shorter format, reaching an impressive milestone yesterday against India.

The Yorkshire star became just the fifth England cricketer to record 1,000 runs in international T20 cricket, after Kevin Pietersen, Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler.

He hit 40 not out to ensure England won by eight wickets, complementing a stunning unbeaten 83 from opener Buttler.

That put the tourists 2-1 up in the five-match T20 series, in which Bairstow has so far accumulated 86 runs, with the fourth game going ahead in Ahmedabad tomorrow afternoon.

It starts at 1:30pm UK time and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports
