CHRIS Melling may have been defeated by close friend Mick Hill on Monday night, but he did enough to make it to finals night in the Champions League of Pool.
Keighley potter Melling and six-time world champion Hill both progressed from their quarter-final group in Newcastle-under-Lyme, edging out Shaun Storry and David McNamara.
It means Melling will be taking on Aaron Davies in the semi-finals next Monday, with Hill going up against Neil Raybone.
The winners of those clashes will play in the final on the same night, with the tournament champion set to scoop a £10,000 prize.
The action will all be shown live on FreeSports.
