LEVI Sutton assessed City’s best winning run for five years and declared: “It’s just got interesting.”

The midfielder set the Bantams on their way to a latest victory at Walsall with a thundering strike.

They have now won four in a row – the first time that has happened since 2016 – to continue to put pressure on the sides above them.

City are fending off any talk of play-offs but Sutton insists that every game will matter over the remaining couple of months.

He said: “I didn’t want it to be a boring season, just bobbing along doing nothing.

“I want promotions in my career. I never came here to just be mid-table.

“I wanted excitement so hopefully we’re getting that now.

“This season has been a weird one. You see Southend go to Forest Green, who were second in the league, and beat them 3-1.

“It’s right to not get too carried away with league positions right now.

“We’ll treat our next game against Mansfield as the toughest like we always do.

“Every team in this league will be looking at us now and thinking, ‘let’s stop this run’.”

Sutton admitted that complacency did creep in City’s play after Andy Cook had put them two up. Walsall threatened an equaliser after pulling one back.

He added: “We took our foot off the gas and thought we’d cruise to the end. You can’t do that in this league.

“Every team is going to have one or two opportunities and it’s whether they take them. We gave them more than that.”

Cook, who has scored three in three games, is not allowed to face his parent club at Valley Parade tomorrow.

Danny Rowe struggled when he came on and is being urged to do more by Mark Trueman, who has also backed Clayton Donaldson for a key role in the coming games.

City’s joint boss said: “Clayton is making more and more of an impact for the team. He played a big part in the squad when Stuart was in charge after Lee (Novak) picked up his injury the first time.

“We’ve got good strength in depth and people who can play in different positions and also got Clayton who is pushing Rowey.

I don’t think Clayton is frustrated. He’s a very good pro and a great example to the younger players.

“He’s still got loads of quality and I think Clayton is going to be massively important for us between now and the end of the season.

“He showed that when he came on and managed the game well.

“He knows his chances are still to come and he’s a team player. Like any striker, he wants to be playing more game time but he’s got to wait for that chance.”

Rowe has not looked the same threat since his recent illness but Trueman also believes opponents are wising up to how City want to play.

“I think Rowey will be frustrated with his last two performances but he’s got to be positive in his thinking.

“The illness may have been a factor but he set high standards in his first two games he played for us. It’s up to him to try and regain that form and up to us to make sure Rowey is hitting that level.

“Teams are making it harder for us and they are denying spaces so Rowey is going to have to try to affect games in different ways."
